Why become a Climate Defender?
To help mobilise Canadians to demand action on global warming.
Climate Defenders spread the word that Canada needs to do much more to fight climate change.
What does a Climate Defender do?
They get signatures for the KYOTOplus petition! Every person counts!
They invite as many friends and family as they can to help, too. The defenders' site makes it easy to email contact and help us spread the word about fighting climate change. You can include your own story, image or thoughts about climate change on your personal page and have conversations with others by writing on their personal message board.
They help Greenpeace to stop climate change by raising money for KYOTOplus.
Asking your friends and family for a small donation will go a long way to preventing climate change.
They have fun!
You will have the opportunity to learn about an important issue, to learn about things that matter to you and to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

How do I become a Climate Defender?
Just click the ‘Join the Defenders’ button on the main page, or the Join link in the top left navigation bar. Or click here now. Follow the on screen prompts and fill out the form.
Once registered, you will receive an e-mail confirmation and you will be required to login.
How will I be defending the climate? How will I be supporting Greenpeace?
Greenpeace is an independent organization – we do not accept donations from governments or corporations. All our work depends on donations from supporters like you.
By becoming a Climate Defender you will help Greenpeace mobilize and educate Canadians about this important issue. You will collect petitions that only you would ever have been able to get.
You may also collect some donations to Greenpeace throughout the campaign. This money will strengthen our efforts to get more great supporters like you and will help us to lobby the Canadian government about climate change.
The donations raised by you, our Climate Defenders, are essential to our campaign to have a long-term solution to climate change.
How do I invite my friends to support me?
Login to your personal campaign page. There you will find links to sample letters to invite friends and family to sign petition and make donations. You can use our sample letters or you can personalize the content you send out. You only need to enter your friend's and family's names and e-mail addresses, and the program will do the rest.
Or, if you would rather use your own email system, you can copy and paste the content into your own email client, and send the emails from there.
How do I thank friends and family who support me?
When friends receive your email, they will be given a direct link to your personal campaign page on the Climate Defenders site. By visiting this page, they can learn why the campaign is important and follow the links to support you. You'll see all the actions they take and can send them thank you messages for helping out, or reminder messages if they forget!
